I am Bonny Lipschutz, based in Philadelphia, PA. I began creating acrylic paintings to express my experience of time. My work has evolved to explore memory and loss, often using expressive brushwork and vivid color to invoke a feeling of distortion.
My work is inspired by organic shapes and landscapes, and each piece I create begins with an intense emotion and is meant to create a sense of longing and belonging while moving in a dream-like state. This tension propels my exploration of how memories evolve over time.
My process is emotional and intuitive, involving quick movements, which allows me to uncover hidden feelings directly. Discovering new ways to interpret these feelings through painting is a key part of my practice. Through my work, I hope to create a sense of place in memory and time, and to continue the ongoing inner work of healing and understanding.
